Alaska Communications has been replacing parts of its traditional landline network across Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, and the Kenai Peninsula, one local area at a time. There is no single date when service will end statewide, so the timing depends on where you live. When a retirement would permanently end telephone service, Alaska Communications must notify affected customers and obtain FCC authorization. Customers may be asked to switch to fiber, fixed wireless, or another available phone service. Community Phone doesn’t use copper wire or internet, so none of this affects your service.
