AT&T has been retiring parts of its traditional landline network in Texas, one local area at a time. There is no single date when service will end statewide, so the timing depends on where you live. When a retirement would permanently end telephone service, AT&T must notify affected customers and obtain FCC authorization. Customers may be asked to switch to fiber, wireless, or another available phone service. Community Phone doesn’t use copper wire or internet, so none of this affects your service.

Yes, you can keep your number and area code if you want to. We have customers across 28 of Texas’s 29 area codes. If you decide to keep your number, we’ll help you transfer it over. We’ll call your phone company for you if we can. If your carrier needs to get the transfer PIN directly from you, keep your last phone bill handy and we’ll walk you through the call.
